5 Tips to level up your social media game

Social media is so fast-paced, it's easy to feel like you're falling behind. Whether it's creating content, posting frequently enough or trying to communicate your brand message, there are a huge number of elements to juggle in addition to running your business.

If you only have time for some minor adjustments, then these would be our recommendations:

1. Always wipe your lens

It sounds simple but sometimes the most simple things are the most effective. Cleaning up those smudges on your lens can quite literally transform your content from a blurry image more suited to a 00s Blackberry to an image which is clean and crisp and oh so Apple.

2. Portrait people, portrait!

Now don't get us wrong, there's still a place for landscape photos, but shooting in this format limits where you can use this on socials. Maximise the space you have and shoot in a portrait format. Your followers will want to see your lovely content in all its glory! Need any more convincing? Shoot in portrait and you can use your content for multiple post types: Grid, Stories and in Reels.

3. Turn off autoresponders

Social media is exactly that - SOCIAL! People like people, and to build a legitimate community around your product or service, you have to build relationships, not just in comments but in DMs too. The risks of chatbots messing up are too high and if people can't find the answer they are looking for, they'll get annoyed. Social is a direct line for most businesses to connect. Don't let a bot stick its butt in.

4. Share need-to-know information

People use social profiles in loads of different ways, but one of the most common is to find out key information in easily accessible formats. All businesses must have their address, opening hours and service offering available in their bio and on their highlights. Newsflash: it needs to be up to date. The beauty of social is its reactivity and fast-paced nature, but we have to harness it to deliver the best service.

5. Authenticity is key

No one is going to want to connect with your brand if they don't believe it's your brand that is talking. If, as a brand, you're fun and quirky - let that show on your socials! When translating what we want to say into writing, we sometimes have a tendency to write very formally, stripping out our natural cadence for more static prose. The same goes for photos and video - sometimes swapping out a high-res image for a fun image of your staff will have more impact and maximise your chances of connection.

If you feel you need a little more help with your social game, we are here to help!
